Otter stuffed animal plushies were made following sketches in Sir Winslow's field journals. During a trip to a woodland area in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, he came across these playful creatures and wanted to learn more about them.

Sir Winslow spent many days sitting on the rocky shore watching them play both in the water and sliding on their bellies down a slippery slope. It was fun watching the otters wrestle each other, or catch a fish in their mouths. Even on land, they seemed to play as they ran and slid along the ground. The sketches in Sir Winslow's journals reflect this whimsical creature's habits and his interaction with them.

This stuffed otter pillow is handmade from super soft bubble minky. He measures 8 x 12 inches and it is filled with poly fiberfill. To start it was cut out by hand which gives them some variation. The belly of the otter is made using my crazy quilt technique and there are hand-stitched accents on the paws. Then the whimsical pillow was assembled with love using both machine sewing and hand stitching. It is what gives them character and personality.

The otter is shown holding a fish, but custom orders are available with color and fabric variations and they certainly can be as unique as you want them to be. If you have woodland decor wouldn't it be a great addition? They are perfect for birthday gifts, baby shower gifts or just as fun toys.
