Sir Winslow's children had marvelous and wonderful toys. He had collected dolls from all over the world on his travels. Many times they were fashioned after princesses in the countries he visited. This doll was from the country of Bulgaria. They love flowers in that country and Sir Winslow visited the Festival of Roses many times. He wrote about it in his travel logs. More stories from his journeys can be found on my blog.
In my workshop, I have re-created many of the dolls. The photographs are all black and white of course, but Sir Winslow made careful notations of his purchases on each journey he went on. With the dark blue calico dress and a tiny crown in her hair, this one is ready for a day at the park. Maybe even joining in the Rose Festival herself.
The textile doll was cut out by hand which will give it some variation. This princess pillow was assembled with love using both machine sewing and hand stitching. It is what gives the cloth dolls character and personality.
She measures 18 x 12 inches. The pillow is stuffed with poly fiberfill and is machine washable. Will need to be air dried or on a delicate setting.
Your child is sure to spend many hours cuddling their new doll!
