for me anyway
Things I have learned in the past year, some about running a business, some about raising a family and other things about living.
Sir Winslow’s Zoo is going to be celebrating it’s 4th Christmas season this year. I was at a show a week ago and chatting with a customer about how things are going with the animals. She told me it takes about 5 years to really get established.I didn’t know that but now I do!
I had made a promise to myself last January that I would spend this year really working on promoting the Zoo, getting strategies in place and in general see if this was worth the effort. Looking back on 2016, I feel like we are in a good place to move forward. I am not sure how all that will unfold, but I see the potential for great things.
Raising a family is mostly common sense. It can change on a daily basis! It can be the same old humdrum. It has it’s challenges and it’s rewards. Nothing new there. But I also feel if you are not growing and changing with your children, are you really doing your best? Not sure that really answers what I have learned about my family this year though. Let’s dig a bit deeper, shall we?
Maybe it’s that if your 15 year old doesn’t want to get a job or drive a car, you shouldn’t push her too hard. Well a little….and then when she does want to get that permit you should have ALL the paperwork ready to go! Common sense Meg, common sense!
I love my mom dearly, I spend most of my days with her. My sewing happens at my parents house so I am able to be there for whatever she needs. Most of it is driving to an appointment, helping with housework (ugh) or whatever. Mostly it teaches me to enjoys the chats we have. I know she won’t be here forever and if I don’t get that last animal sewn up, then at least I have discussed the latest kid issue with her! Some of that was a bit trite but still important.
And now for some new animal pictures...because I can!
